Lucky Line Scratchers

Any activation that creates a line creates the same problem: idle time turns into irritation, and the experience gets blamed on the staff.

Lucky Line Scratchers keeps the energy up with one simple move. Every guest gets a business-card scratcher while they wait in line or at the booth. They scratch, reveal a guaranteed win, and walk into the transaction already feeling rewarded.

It’s cheap to build, quick to run, and flexible by design. Print business-card sized scratchers anywhere local (Staples-style print shops; most runs have low minimums like 50–100 cards), then buy scratch-off stickers online (often around $15 for 1,000). There’s some labor to apply stickers, but the unit cost stays stupid low.

Redeem swag on the spot to protect flow, and use discounts/deals as “next visit” wins to pull demand forward.

Campaign | Lucky Line Scratchers

➊ Campaign Objective

Improve the customer experience in any line-forming moment by creating guaranteed “wins” that keep people engaged while they wait. Use the prize mix to either protect same-day throughput (fast fulfillment) or drive a measurable return visit after the rush.

➋ Target Audience

Anyone stuck waiting: customers in a store queue, guests in a check-in line, or attendees waiting at an event booth. It’s intentionally not gated. Adjust the prize mix based on whether you want faster same-day flow or more return visits, and adapt offers for state by state compliance.

➌ Key Message + Positioning

Turn waiting into a win. Position the scratcher as a thank-you for showing up and a way to make the line feel faster. Keep it simple: everyone wins, and the prize is easy to claim.

Staff Script: “Hey, quick surprise while you wait. Here’s a Lucky Line Scratcher. Every card wins. Scratch it now, then redeem at checkout (or hang onto it for your next visit).”

➍ Incentive or Offer Mechanics

Business-card sized scratchers have one scratch panel covered by a scratch off sticker. Stickers can be purchased online and come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colours.

Compliance: Every card must be a winner. If some cards don’t win, it turns into gambling. That also means you cannot require purchase to issue the card. Everyone should receive one on the big day.

Wins can be: bonus points, next-visit deals/discounts, same-day swag, vendor-sponsored prizes, food vouchers (where allowed), limited-quantity premium “big wins.”

Redemption: staff marks/collects the scratcher when redeemed so it can’t be reused. At events, the scratcher is the voucher. Fulfill on-site (swag) or bring the card in to redeem later.

Internal notes: This is not pre-advertised. It’s a surprise for people waiting in line. On big days, aim to give one to everyone in line to avoid compliance headaches.

Budget-first: set budget → forecast volume → backsolve prize counts. Leftovers roll into slump days or service recovery.
